
Business Need
This project aimed to meet the growing demand for virtual training and simulated hands-on activities. By designing and prototyping custom VR learning experiences in-house and testing them with frontline employee groups, the project provided more realistic and effective training options for repair technicians and sales professionals, especially during lockdown. Overall, the goal was to fill the gap in virtual training and provide a cost effective solution for hands-on repair and sales practice.
My Role
- Partnered with operations, coaching, and training teams to design specific activities for virtual learning
- Led a team of designers and developers to build the experiences
- Coordinated a distribution and equipment management plan for VR devices
- Managed feedback and onboarding support for hundreds of employees using the devices
- Advised learning professionals within the company on additional potential use cases for VR

Effectiveness
- Reduced travel needs for new hire and upskilling training - up to a week of time saved
- Improved learner engagement at a rate of 3x compared to other content types
- Provided hours of additional hands-on tools training and customer experience role-play scenarios
- Gathered detailed insight on training gaps through robust, real-world assessments
- Created a platform to integrate unique deep learning algorithms to suggest improvements for tone evaluation
- Proved the viability of creating and scaling these learning experiences to a large userbase
